South African fuel prices will see small changes starting this Wednesday. The South African rand got stronger against the dollar which helped balance out the rising oil prices. The latest data shows that 95 Unleaded petrol might go up by 3 cents while 93 Unleaded could drop by 5 cents.

The government might split the difference and make all petrol 1 cent cheaper. Diesel prices are expected to drop a bit too. The 500ppm type should cost 10 cents less & 50ppm diesel will be 7 cents cheaper.
Paraffin users will also save 10 cents per liter. With these changes 95 Unleaded petrol would cost R20.79 at the coast and R21.58 in Gauteng. The 93 Unleaded might drop to R21.42. Diesel prices should fall to R18.64 at the coast and R19.40 inland.
Fuel prices will change on October 1. Global fuel costs went up a bit lately but the stronger rand helped lower prices by about 14 cents.
Last week the rand got stronger against the US dollar. It reached R17.30 which is the best it’s been in a year.

This happened because more money came into our bond market. The steady rand and low oil prices worldwide have kept fuel costs stable in 2025. Right now petrol and diesel prices are the same as they were at the start of 2025. Last month all types of petrol went down by 4 cents. Diesel prices also dropped by 56 cents for 500ppm and 57 cents for 50ppm diesel.
