Massive R2310 Disability Grant in South Africa 2025: Key Highlights

The South African Disability Grant is now R2310 per month after being raised from R2180 in April. The government updates this grant twice each year in April and October. We don’t know yet if there will be another increase in October 2025. People who qualify for the grant will get at least R2310 monthly. If the government approves a new increase in October 2025 recipients will get more than R2310. Until then the current amount stays the same for all eligible people.

Who Qualifies for the R2310 Disability Grant in South Africa 2025?

– You need to be a South African Citizen Resident or Refugee to apply.

-The grant is only for adults between 18 and 59 years old.

– You must not live in a state care facility and you need a 13-digit ID number.

– There are income limits. If you’re single you can’t earn more than R86,280 per year. For married people the combined income must be under R172560 per year.

– Asset limits also apply. Single people must own less than R1,227,600 in assets.

– Married couples can’t have combined assets worth more than R2,455200.

– You need a medical exam by a state doctor who will check how disabled you are. This decides if you get the grant & if it’s temporary or permanent.

– Bring your medical records when you apply. Remember that medical reports are only good for three months after the checkup.

– The state will look at the doctor’s report to decide if you qualify for the grant.

The SASSA Disability Grant payment for October 2025 is currently set at 2310 Rand per month. This amount might change because SASSA updates these payments twice every year in April & October.
